Kathleen King was an entrepreneur from the word go. Ever since her father challenged on her survivability living on the streets, she has had a business mindset. She wanted to make a successful bakery in the fashionable city of Southampton, New York. To see this through, Kathleen went on to get a degree in restaurant management degree. This was this was the start of the challenge between her and her father, as the moment when she got her degree Kathleen was asked to leave. She would go on to rent a bakery in Southampton and prepare for the upcoming summer by perfecting recipes and making them work for a larger scale production. This means that there is no intermediaries involved with the transactions between producer and the consumer. Her store is the perfect example of this because she makes the cookies and other goods there and sells the goods directly to her customers. This helps her out tremendously because it also allows her to not have control of how she markets her goods, but it allows her to build a stronger customer relationship. When she decided to focus more on wholesaling, this shop became the producer of all the goods that becomes distributed out everywhere. Now that she is focusing on wholesaling, when she ships out goods she utilizes an indirect channel of distribution. This because when she ships things out, she is going to use intermediaries to get her products where they need to be. For example when she goes to sell her products to the Fresh Market in North Carolina, she sells them directly to the store. Thus, within her chain, it serves as the only middleman. Then when she sells to the Amish Market, she has two groups involved in her channel. She has the people who she sells her product to, Bay View Distributing and then she has the retailer, Amish Market, who receives the products from Bay View
