Have you ever woken up from a wonderful slumber, only to look at yourself in the mirror and think “Why can’t I be as beautiful as Emma Watson or Jennifer Lawrence? Why can’t I have a figure like Kim Kardashian? Why do I have to be born like this?”. In reality, nobody is perfect, we all have our own insecurities, even those whose lives seem so perfect have insecurities, but insecurities are inevitable. We shouldn’t let them consume us. But the main thing that causes us to have such insecurities is society. Our society nowadays dictate the way we percieve the things around us. And as of the moment, Kim Kardashian is the perfect icon for our twisted society. This is exactly what I would like to call attention to, to the way we glorify idols too much.
Our Glorification of idols is sometimes taken too far. Too far to the point that we can’t distinguish photoshop from reality. Yes, we know a lot of photos on the internet are photoshopped, yet we still strive to look ‘perfect’. To look ‘photoshopped’. Like a sickness with symptoms we can akin the way we look at idols, the symptoms are there yet we choose to ignore it, there is prior knowledge of the sickness yet nothing is done to cure it.
