Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on the date of May 22, 1859 of Edinburgh, Scotland, him and his family were prosperous Irish-Catholics. His father, Charles Altamont Doyle was a chronic alcoholic and was a moderately successful artist, but apart from having an excellent child, he never accomplished anything of note. As his father struck the age of 22, he married a lovely wife named Mary Foley who was a vivacious and well educated 17 year old woman.
