Thirteenth Century Literature is a very unique time frame and way of expressing the language of the time frame. The story of King Arthur and His Knights of the Round table is a great picture of how people may have acted during this time frame. This piece of literature is a great example of the Thirteenth Century Literature and how things worked during that time period. Through the book it shows the way Kings and the Knights of the time associated with each other and people outside of the castle also. In the story it talks about how the king was chosen to lead the people after one of their best kings died. There was a sword in a stone and there was only one person who would be able to pull it out and he would be the worthy king. Then he remembered the sword in the courtyard that no one seemed to be using so he went there and took the sword out of the stone and took it to his brother. His brother claimed that he must be king since he had the sword then he confessed that Arthur had brought the sword to him. Sir Ector at first did not believe that Arthur could be king because he was so young. Then he made him put the sword back into the holster in the stone and had Sir Kay try to pull it out and he couldn’t. Then Sir Ector tried and he couldn’t pull it out either. They then told Arthur to pull it out and it slid right out. After a few years they finally believed that Arthur was the worthy king and crowned him. This angered provinces around the area and they surrounded a castle in with Arthur had been placed. King Arthur was a wonderful king. He led the kingdom through several battles and wars and kept his people under control from pursuing many
