King Herod's Jealousy Of Jesus

109 Words1 Pages
King Herod’s jealousy of Jesus led to the slaughter of hundreds of innocent children in
Bethlehem. When Herod heard about the birth of Jesus, he thought Jesus would overthrow his kingship.
This jealousy led Herod to seek the death of Jesus. Herod ordered the murder of all male children, two years old and younger. In doing this Herod thought he would be certain the newborn king Jesus would die. Herod’s plan failed because an angel warned Joseph to leave Bethlehem and save Jesus. From this story we learn that the sin of jealousy can lead to even greater sin. It is important never to let jealousy into our souls.
