spiritual growth, and temptation which leads to sin and spiritual death. Therefore, if I decide in my heart to choose what is good and to obey GOD, then GOD will surely give me the strength and help I need to overcome sin. Now I realize that I will only see victory in my struggle against temptation to sin if I take it to the LORD in prayer.
The LORD Jesus gets the worst temptation while in prayer in Gethsemane, to either accept or reject the agony of death on a cross. It is by His intense prayer to the Father that the LORD Jesus overcomes His tempter in the struggle of His agony. Being true Man and true God, I see that the LORD Jesus has the power and the means to escape defeat and death at the hands of His enemies. Yet, He chooses the way of the cross for my sake and for my salvation. And I consider the ways in which I should face opposition, failure, trials and rejection. I must look to the LORD Jesus for strength to overcome adversity with faith, trial with hope, and rejection with love. I must follow the LORD Jesus to His favourite place of prayer in the Garden, to face such trial and testing. It is in prayer to His Father in heaven that He finds the strength to embrace

The LORD Jesus, always compassionate, calls them, wakes them up, and admonishes them with paternal love. He recommends them to keep vigil and pray. Too bad, they do not heed the instruction. Perhaps they are so filled with the sorrow of the afflicted LORD, so much so that they just cannot stay awake and pray. They might as well drown their sorrows in sleep. There are times when I have likewise fallen physically asleep and failed to pray when I need prayer the most. Yet, I learn from the LORD that I must persist in prayer no matter what, because there will always be an angel sent from heaven to strengthen me.
