The Egyptians were prominently present during the reign of King Solomon in the royal courts, and one of his chief wives was from Egypt (Tullock & McEntire, 2006). The use of wisdom literature was commonly used in Egypt as a method of teaching their young in moral conduct and to ensure appropriate behavior in the king’s presence. The influence of the “Instruction of Amenemopet” may have resulted in Solomon establishing schools of wisdom. That the Israelites viewed prosperity as a form of God’s approval and with the addition of wisdom it only reinforced the idea. Within the Book of Proverbs, there are many collections of sayings that compare the wise man to the one who will not listen to wisdom. Consequently, the wise ones listened, while the
