Kira's Obsession: A Short Story

Kira, a orphaned girl, has always lived a life of judgement because of her twisted leg and her supposedly “dead” father whole was killed by fighting beasts. Now, her mother is dead which only leaves her with her gift, threading. At the end of the story, her father, who is not dead, gives Kira the choice to live with him in a carefree village. But, she has a job to thread beautiful images on the Singer’s Robe. This robe is very coveted by the village. In the village, no one is ever ridiculed or mocked. Instead, Kira decides to stay and live an unsettling life. She could have gotten what she had always dreamed of, but made a poor decision, in my opinion. Because of her choice, she won’t be able to see her friends and father easily, but must travel very far to. First, her father isn’t wanted in her community because of a tragic happening on a hunt. Father held too much power so Jamison ( a very authoritative leader) tried killing him which caused the citizens to think Kira’s father died of an unknown cause. Next, Kira might have a hard time traveling along the path to her father’s community because the especially uneven path causes Kira to stumble due to her twisted leg. Finally, the Council of Guardians doesn’t want Kira leaving, so she must leave in secret. Overall, there are several obstacles that intervene the connection between Kira and the
