Knights Templar
The Knights Templar, a military order, was formed to protect Christian pilgrims who were making voyages to the Holy Lands during the first Crusade, which was a war between Christians and Muslims who fought over possession of the sacred city of Jerusalem. The Knights Templar were formed In the early 1100s, by a man named Hugues de Payne (Nix 1). The Knights Templar were a very prestigious organization of Christian soldiers who had a positive influence on Europe during the Middle Ages.
The knights Templar were formed to protect all pilgrims making voyages to the Holy City of Jerusalem. The Templar were sent to protect pilgrims because Jerusalem was in the midst of their first crusade. These Christian soldiers

As time went on during the first Crusade, the Templar gained recognition as the most fierce military order of the middle ages (Dersin 76-78).
Templar gained power by being a dominant military force and by conquering all military groups that attempted to challenge the Templar. As time sent on the temar were eventually forced out of the temple of king Solomon by the Turks (Nix 1-2). It is then where the Templar inhibited the island of Cyprus. At this point in time the Templar were trying to expand their range of military support (Nix 1).
The attempt of the expansion lead to the spread of the Templar order and power. The Templar eventually spread their orders and services to France and other parts of Europe. Soon the Templar established their own banking system which lead to the assembly of a Templar navy. This only helped the Templar authority to grow. The establishment of banks allowed the Templar to become wealthy. The Templar navy became rather fierce by the time it was in full regalia. The Templar navy became fierce by killing off Turkish ships during the first Crusade. The Navy was just another weapon added to the Templar arsenal(Nix
