The story of Kristen Gilbert’s is no less than extremely interesting and tragic. A woman who fooled almost everyone around her while ending the lives of countless innocent people, and the bizarre reasoning for her crimes shocked America once her history surfaced. She was an intellectual, a wife, a mother, a nurse, and lastly, a serial killer. Kristen Heather Strickland Gilbert was born on November 13th, 1967. Kristen was nothing less than successful during her time at Northampton. She was well liked by her coworkers and even organized an exchange that gifted Christmas presents to unfortunate families. Up until this point in Kristen's story, she had experienced her ups and downs, but overall lived a pleasing and normal life. Her and her husband had two children and the Gilbert family was seen as an average American household. At the hospital, Kristen’s superiors saw her as extremely capable and reliable. In July of 1995, she treated a 65-year-old man named Stanley Jagadowski. He was admitted to the hospital for post-operative bowel instructions. He only needed oral medication, but Kristen was seen entering his room with a syringe. a nurse allegedly heard him cry out in pain just before Kristen exited his room. Later that night, he died from cardiac arrest. It was not believable that Kristen, the beautiful, young, and seemingly nice nurse was a murderer. After a while, patients began to refuse treatment in the ward. On one instance, a war veteran that was seen as delusional, stated, “People are dying around here for no reason... The patients are talking about it. The staff is talking about it. The staff is talking to the patients about it.” No one expected that Kristen was to blame for this and the man was labeled as crazy. He was later was injected and killed by his attending nurse, Kristen Gilbert. Eventually, Kristen’s life began unraveling to the point of no return. She quit her job and was soon after hospitalized for a suicide attempt. When James visited her she confessed her crimes to him and states, “I did it! I did it! You wanted to know? I killed all those guys by injection.” James immediately went to the authorities and in a last effort to save herself, Kristen called in a bomb threat to the hospital.
