Hannah Green's Warning Signs

Hannah Green had her future waiting for. The 17-year-old was just months away from graduating and heading off to college, but a broken heart from a fight with her boyfriend changed all that.

WTVR reports the Virginia teen used a gun to take her own life, shooting herself in the stomach in a storage building located on on a residential property.

The teen was found conscious and able to speak when she was found according to authorities, but sadly she later died at the hospital.

Hannah’s stepmother, Tina Green, didn't see any warning signs that "she would have done this to herself," while her father, William Green, who Hannah lived with, added "Hannah was always smiling, always happy."

Although Hannah pulled the trigger that caused her death, her mom doesn't think she meant to kill herself when she did it:

“I don’t feel that’s what she really wanted. I don’t think she was thinking out the moment. I have no reason to believe that my daughter didn’t want to live.”

Riggan pointed out there was an argument, but not a physical altercation before the shooting, “I just believe it was teenagers, alcohol and guns and a fight.”

The mother knew her daughter had plans set for her future before she took her life. Hannah had a softball scholarship to Longwood University waiting for her after graduating this spring. She said “I have no reason to believe she was a troubled child and wanted to commit suicide.”

Richmond Times-Dispatch reports a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office confirmed the teen suffered from a gunshot wound to her abdomen. The Amelia Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the death
