The name “ Ku Klux Klan” came from the greek word “kyklos”. Before the KKK became popular within the southern states, they would wear normal clothes at first. During this time there was still really bad segregation within the states due to slavery ending just a few years before. They had no need to have an kind of uniforme or mask because the law allowed them to squeeze by without getting in trouble. They started getting more violent that's when they became a hate group.
