Lab Report On Microscopy

1858 Words8 Pages
Microscopy lab report
Prelab Questions:
1. The electron microscope uses a beam of electrons as an energy source
2. Stereomicroscope
3. Transmitted light passes through the thin slice of specimen while reflected light cannot pass through the specimen, it strikes and bounces off the specimen.
4. In a stereomicroscope light cannot pass through the large specimen that is observed because it is not thinly sectioned or transparent. Therefore, the light is reflected.
Introduction:
Microscope is an important scientific tool used in biology and chemistry to magnify an object to look at it in detail. There are two types of microscopes: the light microscope that uses visible light from the sun or an artificial light and the electron microscope that uses a beam of electrons to create an image of the object. There are also two kind of light microscope; the compound light microscope, which will be used in this lab activity, works by transmitted light passing through the specimen and the stereomicroscope that works by reflected light. In this lab, we will learn about the proper use and control of a microscope.
