AIM The aim of the experiment was to learn how to properly use light microscope and investigate the unicellular organism. INTRODUCTION In biological sciences there are many methods to investigate certain elements and structures but on the top of the list if microscope. Vast majority of organisms on the planet and on the body are too small to be seen from a naked eye, the cells and the organelles can only be seen under the eye of light microscope. In this experiment the method to use light microscope was shown. Light microscope is used in research for years and years and it is a very basic tool of science and especially in biology as it is the study which includes a lot of research. Visible light and magnifying lenses are used in light microscope …show more content…

the specimen that is being observed is to be seen on a glass slide for example in the investigation of a unicellular organism in the experiment a pond water sample was taken and the sample was then put on the glass slide which was then observed under the light and magnification of the light microscope . moreover the contrast of the microscope has to be set in a certain way that the specimen is clearly visible for this purpose sometimes but actually most of the times stains and special dyes are used in the specimen which is under observation but there was no dye used in the conducted experiment .dyes and stains are usually used to improve the contrast of the specimen and it absorbs the transmitting light and improves the overall observation of the specimen. Different parts of light microscope cooperate and help in the observation of the specimen taken, the light from the microscope that is transmitting on the specimen taken is focused by the condenser lens and then it is collected by the objective lens. The powers are then …show more content…

pomd water sample was taken first of all because it is easy to collect and as it was introductory experiment it was a very good example of observing something under the light of microscope and there is lots of life in one single drop of a pond water . three major pond water organisms were expected to be seen in the experiment euglena , amoeba and paramecium unfortunately only one organism was seen and that was paramecium amoeba and euglena were not seen due to the given experiment time or due to the sample . Paramecium was seen in the light of microscope as a fast moving dot in the magnification power if 10x and then in 40x other than paramecium some other thread like structures were seen. To observe paramecium microscope coarse adjustment was used paramecium is a unicellular organism that lives in fresh water and is very commonly seen under the eye of light microscope. It has an oral groove through which it feeds by ingesting small items. It is also known as ciliates because they move in water using row of tiny cilia. (2). the importance of this experiment was the knowledge of the unicellular organisms and how much life there is in one drop of fresh water and on the other hand the use of microscope which is one of the most important tools of science especially in the field of biology , nearly every other biological experiments
