William Shakespeare is known as one of history's most famous English writer of all times. According to Shakespeare, “We know what we are, but know not what we may be” it relates to the Macbeth play by showing the unexpected changes that occurred with the characters. There are two different sides to the story; one being a tragic hero and the other being an unstable person. Macbeth is defined as a tragic hero because he started off the play as an innocent man. Lady Macbeth is an unstable woman, that goes through a lot of turns; in this Shakespearean work. In addition, William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, shows how the characters; Macbeth and Lady Macbeth changes over the course of the play. In the middle of the play, Macbeth becomes a murderer and leaves Lady Macbeth’s shook. For example, Macbeth had an unimpeachable mind that transformed into a devil's mind after killing Duncan “Thou shalt not live, That I may tell pale-hearted fear it lies, And sleep in spite of thunder” (IV.i.84-86). Materializing, Macbeth took a wide turn with a heartless personality. In cold blood, Macbeth did not mind being a killer. The actions he was taking had many negative impacts towards innocent and guilty people. Lady Macbeth did not expect that Macbeth will lead himself to being a murderer and that she did not think that he would give in and lead himself to become a killer. Another example, Lady Macbeth is starting to feel the regret of how dark she is, but still doesn’t know how to fix it, “My hands are of your color, but I shame To wear a heart so white” (II.ii.62-64). This indicates, Lady Macbeth is trying to have a pure, clear and a white heart. She wants to relieve the pain before it’s too late but after her stubborn actions, she will not get to a comforting level. At the beginning of the play, we did not expect Lady Macbeth to stop loving the idea of assassinating people to get what she wants. For example, Macbeth no longer has a loving heart towards anyone, “Go prick thy face and over-red thy fear, Thou lily-livered boy. What soldiers, patch? Death of thy soul! Those linen cheeks of thine. Are counselors to fear. What soldiers, whey-face?” (V.iii.14-17). This compromises, Macbeth’s change in character had lots of negativities instead of positivities, he was such a loyal person that he kept all his problems sealed unwounded to anyone. Towards the end of the drama we can see that Macbeth was genetically structured to be a killer. Another example, Lady Macbeth is having mental instabilities due to her past, “The Thane of Fifa had a wife. Where is she now? What, will these hands ne’er be clean? No more o’ that, my lord, no” (V.i.36-38). This transmits, Lady Macbeth symbolizes an unexpected transformation that led her to being mentally unstable. She can’t stop thinking about all of the guiltiness she’ve had. We can see that Lady Macbeth was rewinding what she has done wrong and what led her to this situation.
