Firstly, Macbeth and his wife change dramatically over the play, because of his mysterious plans and betrayal. Over the play, Macbeth’s plans change as he never thought he would be King of Scotland, but when told he had the opportunity he followed his own dark desires. Lady Macbeth had wanted to have power, so she followed her own desires to convince Macbeth to do the deathly deed. At the beginning of the play, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth had a good life living on what the king had done for them, until the three weird sisters had convinced them otherwise. Macbeth’s marriage with Lady Macbeth had turned to a partner in crime, more than a marriage during the play. Big changes started to arise once Lady Macbeth had started to take over the marriage and take control to get events done. Lack of trust in the relationship starts to come up when secrets had been kept from each other, like how Macbeth had kept the secret of ordering someone to murder Banquo. Before Macbeth had killed King Duncan, Macbeth had been a bit nervous and not ready to kill the man he thought to be great. Once the murder is committed the spots almost swap as Lady Macbeth becomes uneasy at what she had commanded. The reason the relationship changes is the lies told and secrets kept from each other, which almost makes them against each other. Macbeth had become uneasy as well, but in his ways, he had used murder to cover up his tracks of previous murder, unlike Lady Macbeth as she was trying to wash off imaginary blood off her hands during sleep. Lady Macbeth said “Out, damn'd spot! out, I say! —One; two: why, then 'tis time to do’t. —Hell is murky. —Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our pow'r to accompt? —Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?” Lady Macbeth had said this to signify the that the murders and grief that is going through her, came back and haunted her in her sleep, and the changes to the relationship have been so abundant that she had been exclaiming it inside of a
