What do you think of when you think of the land of America? John Winthrop once compared America to “A city on a Hill” (Artifact 1) Not only do Americans often have a superior attitude towards our neighboring countries, whether that attitude of superiority is righteous or not is in a way up to the eyes of the beholder, but other countries look up metaphorically to the light we shine and want to be included in our secrets. If America were a party, they would crave an invitation. They want to participate in the masterpiece which is the land of the free and the home of the brave. For as long as our country has been around it has been more than just a beautiful location to visit on vacations, it has almost in itself taken the identity of an idea. The great President Ronald Reagan once said, “America is still a beacon, still a magnet for all who must have freedom, for all the pilgrims from all the lost places who are hurting through the darkness toward home.” (Artifact 4) Like a magnet, we draw people in. We are the only country in this entire world that has had such success from our very beginning. Because of the hope of a bright future, our founding fathers worked to make today possible. My personal belief is that God lifted their fences and cleared their foggy glasses a bit to give them each individually a glimpse of what could be. I believe they were gifted with imaginations far superior to yours and mine. Those dreams became reality, and because of that reality, now anyone else’s dreams can become a reality here in this beautiful country. In America, we are victorious. Eagles that soar. I understand every other country has a strong sense of patriotism as well but I can’t help but feel that their patriotism is nothing compared to ours because in America we have many things to be proud of, but our hope is the largest of our
