Many of the invaders do as their told and never contradict the method, but Lanser seems to disagree with the method often times despite usually going through with it. There are many times where he expresses his thoughts, but one of the most notable times is in chapter two when Corell asked him if he was afraid, and he replied with a story about the horrible things that he was forced to do in the war.
