Lead/Manage Essay There are many amazing leaders in our world. A few exemplars are presidents, religious leaders, parents, schoolteachers, and so on. Many leaders have several noble characteristics in common. In a textbook called “Administration of Programs for Young Children” there are 5 C’s of leadership, which are character, caring, commitment, confidence, and communication. A few examples of what a well-qualified leader would do are, communicate a vision, explain standards, and create a strong foundation for the program. Leaders are like a machine. They should provide guidance and direct others in order for everything to work smoothly. Without a working machine the other pieces would not be beneficial. (Click and Karkos, 2011) Management is the nuts and bolts of a machine, without them the machine would fall apart. All of these skills I will use in working in the early childhood education field. I know I will have opportunities to mentor others, whether it is children or training other adults to work with children. Effectively listening to individuals is also a skill that will bless me in my career and in my relationships throughout my life. Having organization and efficiency in my future jobs will also be great qualities that others I work with will appreciate.
