I aim to be a leader but admittedly not one that seeks attention but one can lead quietly in the background. My idea of leading is doing so by standing side by side those who choose to follow, instead of orchestrating commands and rules for the sake of being heard. As a leader I like to personally understand those who I am reaching. Leadership and teamwork go hand in hand. When I think of these two I am reminded of a response I wrote about my philosophy in life. A small snippet of it writes, “My goal is to be like the ant. Working in an Alzheimer's and dementia facility, my ability to serve these individuals is the greatest reward. To recognize the person behind the disease and treat them with respect and dignity through this difficult time is personally fulfilling. I realize that this illness that grips their minds does not put any limitations on their hearts and their capacity to love, laugh and live. The disease is not their identity, and I am blessed to learn their history, help them enjoy the present and promote their futures. These patients teach me how to be the best version of myself. I never imagined how much they could teach me. They impart wisdom that I will carry and share for a lifetime. I also work as a receptionist in the same nursing home where I am able to greet incoming patient who will use our rehabilitative services. I am the first face they see and I can make the difference in their experience; either adding to their anxiety or easing their fears. From the visitors to the patients I have the humble opportunity to be a listening ear. I have learned that most people just need someone to talk to and express themselves to judgment free. That I think is also an aspect of a noble leader, one that can listen. In addition this these two jobs I also work as a senior sitter and an aftercare provider at an elementary school. Both are opportunities for me to lead as well as I deliver
