During my time serving with the U.S. Navy I was in the role of war time and peacetime as a Corpsman and as a Physician Assistant. I share my personal experience with you as I feel this gives me a unique ability to determine another person’s ability to not only know when and how to be a leader but to also be a follower. In addition, as a Physician Assistant the bar to achieve and follow is significantly higher than that of some of our colleagues. Clearly Mr. Johnson has dedicated his life to serving others in controlled and uncontrolled environments without questioning the mission or his role.
When I raised my hand, and took my oath of service I had no idea of the journey Leadership Philosophy that laid ahead of me. Joining late in life was one transition, but the transition into the Non-Commission Officer (NCO) Corps, and a leader has been a very rewarding experience. The values that were instilled in me as a child and those that have been drilled into my make-up as an NCO are very similar. The tenants of the seven Army Values have been what I have lived by most of my life and career, however there are four out of the seven values that I hold most valuable and live out on a day to day basis.
I understand this more after reading my LPI 360 assessment. Although, the feedback was mostly positive I have identified ways to become a better more valuable leader. In the numbers portion I received pretty low scores in finding ways to celebrate accomplishments and overtly praising subordinates for their hard work. This resonated with me because I have felt unappreciated before and I d o not want my subordinates to think what they are doing is not important or appreciated. Other tools I will use to try different leadership approaches will include the DiSC and MBTI survey.
Our current commander instituted his personal leadership philosophy last summer and has an expectation for all leaders to champion his organizational vision and goals. I ensured everyone in my section had a solid understanding of his leadership philosophy, as well as the new organizational vision and goals. I also posted them in our office for quick reference and review the information during our weekly staff meetings. This helps to ensure we, as an office, are supporting the values of the

In the event that, I record observations of my first leader for one family I provide care for, I have determined that she is in most definitely task oriented. To demonstrate, she prioritizes her daily schedule by following her everyday tasks. First, she has us wake up the kids the same time everyday for school followed by breakfast. Second she preps their lunches for school along with making a weekly grocery list. Then, takes the kids to school and heads to work.

LEADERSHIP Introduction Depending on how various individuals perceive it, leadership is described in many ways. Leadership is “the process by which a person influences others to achieve an objective”. (Learn to be a leader.com, 2009) On the other hand ,leadership is that process in which one person sets the purpose or direction for one or more other persons and gets them to move along together with him /her, with each other in that direction with competence and full commitment. Roebuck (1999) also emphasised that, leadership should set an individual apart from the rest.
Leadership Journal Report Assignment Skills Inventory: The skills inventory, which includes technical, human, and conceptual skill, helps me to measure my three leadership competencies of me. It lets me to understand how my skills separate to three leadership skill approaches. According to our textbook, although all of three skills are important to leaders, the importance of each skill varies between different management levels. By scoring it, I got 19 in technical skill, 21 in conceptual skill, and 25 in human skill, which is the highest one.
