There has been various stories and accounts of kids murdering innocent people across the years since video games became widespread in modern culture. It seems that the majority of people blame it on the type of video games that children play when they are young that psychologically distorts their brain, causing them to commit such acts of violence. On September 7th Daniel Petric, a 17 year old boy, murdered his mother and shot his father after having his video game “Halo 3” taken away from him. Daniel had sneaked out of his bedroom window to purchase the game at a store against his father's orders. When he returned home, his parents caught him with the game and took it from him. Daniel's father saw his wife slumped on the chair with multiple bullet wounds in her body. This is just one account of many that show what some children can do once something they are strongly involved in is taken away. What I know about this topic starting off is that it’s a very controversial morally and politically in the United States. This topic is highly contested politically with some officials wanting to ban violent video games in a whole rather than having the current age restriction policy in place. I’ve also read many articles stating that videogames are the first accusation pointed to when a child commits a violent crime in any sort. I have read statistics saying that nearly 97% of children 12-17 play video games, and more than half play violent games. My purpose for writing this topic is to discover the main cause of children's violent outbursts. I’m hoping to find a deeper meaning to all this and see if it’s the actual video game or if it’s a false testament. I’m interested in this topic because play violent video games as well yet i'm normal physiologically. Finding out about this topic will open up my mind about what really is the cause of these violent
