History
Many relevant sources state that the Chinese are credited on the creation of the paper airplane. While new sources state that the great inventor Leonardo Da Vinci was the creator of the paper airplane. Multiple sources say he found the design while creating the ornithopter. Other sources say that while researching he made the design prototype of the ornithopter (Paper Airplane Mafia, January 18, 2015).
The study of flight was originated in Early China, around 400 B.C. It began with the discovery of the kite and how it sparked the thought of human flying vehicles. With this, humans tried to fly like the only creature known, birds. Early inventors made simple, bird-like prototypes. They consisted mainly of light weight wings made of wood frames and cloth. Sadly, these were often horrific results because the test pilots did not have the capabilities of flight like the …show more content…

His results ended in over 100 drawings and illustrations on his designs that were never made. His greatest innovation was the ornithopter. It had a lot of similarities to the kites of the Chinese, but his was more complex and directional. It had a system of levers and pulleys that allowed it to have more input. The modern day helicopter is originated on this idea(Paper Airplane Mafia, January 18, 2015).

The study moves to France, where the brothers Joseph Michel and Jacques Etienne Montgolfier became the inventors of the first hot air balloon. The design was based on the capturing of smoke into a silk bag with a basket for the passengers. Funny enough, the first test team consisted of a sheep, rooster, and duck. They traveled about 11,280 feet into the air. After that test, they began transporting men aboard the air balloon. The first of many flights succeeded on November 21, 1783.
