I believe that the group who created the phoenix honoring Leopoldo Flores did the best job paying tribute to him and his work. According to this groups presentation Leopoldo was most well-known for creating beautiful stain glass windows all across Mexico. Many pieces of his stain glass use colors found in Mexico and many of the figures represented in his works are either animals from Mexico or creatures from Mexican folk tale. Many of his works features blues, oranges, reds, and yellows. The group that created the phoenix put all of those things to mind when creating their work to honor him. They based their work off the phoenix, a mythical fire bird representing rebirth for the phoenix rose up from the ashes. The back ground was a light blue representing the sky behind it showing how Leopoldo used blues in his works. The bird itself was red orange and yellow show casing the other main colors Leopoldo used in his works. The legs and talons of the bird are a brown show casing how Leopoldo uses colors from nature in his works as well. The group used cardboard to create the bird, his wings, legs and talons. They mounted their work on paper. Although they did not use colored glass like Leopoldo would have to create his pieces. They looked at what he did and was inspired by what he had created and decided that the phoenix would be the best way to honor and pay tribute to him without just reproducing one of his pervious works. They looked at the different works he’d done, they’d looked at the different colors and figures that he’d used and based his work off of and after looking at all that they concluded the best way to honor and pay homage to him would be to create the phoenix which they styled off his own
