Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my letter of appeal. As you may know, I have been notified that my employment with Housing and Residence Life will end effective immediately. I was told that the reason for this decision was poor performance due to violation of the key policy. I believe that a mistake has been made in my case. I have worked for the UWG Housing and Residence Life department for just about two years now, and I've consistently received nothing but good performance evaluations. Whether those evaluations come from my supervisors Asa and Andy, my co-workers at Center Pointe and the other residence halls, or even the residents that I have I've dealt with over the course of these two years. So to give some insight, I will explain in hopes of shedding light on my actions from last Sunday. From the start of my sophomore year of college, I've been required to find a way to pay for school myself with little to no help from my parents. I don't receive financial aid or Pell grant like some students do. So there has always been a financial burden placed upon my shoulders which I continue to carry till this day. This fall semester of my junior year I'm taking 18 credit hours of course work, in addition to my requirements as a returning resident assistant. So in terms of my stress level it's pretty high this year. About two or three weeks ago my oldest sister called and told me that our mother had to go to the emergency room for health related problems with her kidneys and that our dad was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. As a compilation of all these things going on in my personal life, all of it had an effect on me emotionally. However, rather than expressing my personal problems I still tried to keep all these things bottled in. I continued to do my job, go to class, and pick up hours for various things for extra compensation. So when Sunday came around, I took another emotional hit that I wasn't expecting. My girlfriend broke up with me and emotionally I couldn't handle it. It was the tipping point of everything thing that's going on in my life which resulted in bad decision making. So my actions that occurred that night where not something I would do if I were thinking rationally as opposed to emotionally as I was on Sunday. My emotions hijacked my judgement which lead to an irrational decision. Hindsight looking back I understand that what I did was wrong and outside the scope of my job and I sincerely
