Likewise, in 1 Samuel Saul leads Israel in victory over them Ammonites but says they are not to be killed: “The people said to Samuel, ‘Who is it that said, “Shall Saul reign over us?” Give them to us so that we may put them to death.’ But Saul
He establishes to the audience several times that he is writing this letter in jail. This shows that he is courageous, resilient, and brave because did not let being thrown in jail stop him from fighting injustice. He uses the teachings and stories of Paul, Jesus, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Socrates to convey to the audience that he is a spiritual, wise, and caring man who is very passionate about stopping unfair inequalities. In the beginning he compares himself to the apostle Paul stating, “Just as the apostle Paul left his village of Tarus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ the far corners of the Geo-Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom by own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid (King 499).

This shows that Paul truly wants peace between each other and avoids the fight if possible. Secondly,
This reminds me of the words of Paul in Romans 2:11,
“There will be peace on earth, " said Christianity, "when all is fair and just.” (Doc. E) It was appealing to people that Christianity supported non-violence and peace. Christianity supported the ideas of being loved and loving, which caused
I think the suppression of a higher religion by a lower, or even a higher secular culture by a lower, a much greater evil" (77). Lewis also shared his belief that the Christian case for Pacifism rests on certain Dominical utterances, such as "Resist not evil; but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other
First and foremost, both Romans chapter 12 and the Sermon on the Mount tell Christians to love one another. The Sermon starts with the Beatitudes, which teaches the followers of Christ that those who seek a righteous and peaceful life will be
A chart which compares Roman ideology and Christianity states that the difference between the two is “peace through violent victory and peace through nonviolent justice,” (Document E). Christianity was a better option for people because it has a better concept of peace. Christianity’s idea of peace does not involve violence, but rather fairness and justice. In contrast, the Romans tended to fight wars to “establish peace” by taking control of land so things could be “quiet and orderly.” However, that was not true peace, it was only fearful compliance with the law.
From a young age, children must “love [their] friends ... Hate no man. [And] forgive [their] enemies” in order to be good Christians (Literature of Colonial America). While the elders of the society are preaching this to their children, they are doing the exact opposite. Instead of forgiving their enemies, people in this society are trying to get revenge.
Moreover, in the article it states “Let every soul be subject to power and authority, for there is no power but from God. The power that is everywhere is ordained from God. He then who resists who resists the power resists God’s ordinance. But he who resists God’s ordinance shall bring himself under condemnation” (Romans, 13). This quotation is relevant as it proves that God and not humans themselves dictate the use of force, the sword and secular law.
Society, in our expectations, is suppose to be the witness of justice or at least more righteous compared to individuals. Roman society is rather rigid in its judicial system as shown in the book by its mean of reciprocating abominable actions with abominable

Performance of resistance views student misbehavior through a critical lens. The critical analysis performance of resistance behavior is in complete response to the negative gaze, the degrading treatment, and the hurtful assumptions many youth of color receive from pro-banking model teachers. This idea sheds light on one of the many frustrations teachers generally express when teaching students of color.
