George was aware Betsy’s talent and skill as a seamstress. He expressed his desire for Betsy to sew a flag to represent America. He shared the drawing and his plan for the flag had stars with six points. Betsy preferred stars with five points and was able to persuade the men to have her sew the stars with five points and she began her work in the back parlor of the upholstery shop. When finished, her freshly sewn flag flew for the first time with the reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1776 Betsy Ross was an incredible woman to experience widowhood, being a single mother, and working to further develop a skill that would help provide for her family, as well as give Betsy Ross a distinguished place in American history.

The Declaration of Independence laid the foundation of what our country is based upon not by being a boring piece of political documentation, but rather a comprehensive and understandable argument that appealed to all of those it benefited which is why it has had such a long lasting relevance and importance even
Many of you are taught all about the Founding Fathers and how America got it’s Independence. I’m positive you’ve all heard about the famous Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin, and about all his contributions to history. He has contributed to the draft of the Declaration of Independence, but that wasn’t the only important contribution he made. He bought a famous paper, the Pennsylvania Gazette, proved the electrical nature of lighting with a kite, and many other things were done by Benjamin. You were probably not told too much about Franklin’s other accomplishments.

It is the basis of politics in the United States and has influenced millions of people to this date. Without the document who knows what America and the rest of the world would be like today. The amount of impact it has had on the culture of modern society is enormous. It has changed the perspective on freedom and religion in all societies and has set a standard for the rights of the people.
As I recited the pledge of allegiance every day in school, I never really took into consideration what the United States stands for to me. I never acknowledged how much the flag means to our country. The United States flag is a symbol of freedom to all who live here. It shows how we are free to do what we please.
The Statue of Liberty came to America from France in 1886 and became a world heritage site in 1984. Every day, many tourists visit the small island of Liberty where the statue stands. This *copper statue is 93 meters tall and is inspiring to see. Especially amazing, is the gold covered *torch at the top of the statue that shines brightly in the sun.

I am going to tell you about an enchanting story about a woman named Rosa Parks and her mongomery, bus boycott. Rosa Parks was born on February 4,1913 in Tuskegee Alabama U.S.A she died on October 24,2005 [age 92] in Detroit, Michigan U.S. before she got arrested for boycotting a montgomery bus Rosa Parks went to school like a normal child. She was raised up on her daddy's farm and raised as a normal girl but she did have to go to a different school then the white people in 1929 when she was in 11th grade she had to go out of school because her grandmother got sick and she had to help her. So most people think that she was the first African American to refusing to yield her seat on a montgomery bus but she was not the first there were actually
