Expository Report
“We must do something, we can’t let them kill us like that, like cattle in the slaughterhouse, we must revolt”. These are the words from many men surrounding Elie Wiesel as he entered Auschwitz, calling out for rebellious toward the Germans harsh conditions. Of course they had no idea what they were getting themselves into, many thought that there was nothing wrong until boarding the cattle train that would send them off to their final resting place. Life during the holocaust was torturous to say the least, so much so that some 6,000,000 lives were taken during this time in Jewish descent alone. People of the Jewish descent did not have it easy; they either were forced out of their homes into concentration camps, or they would hide out only to be found and killed of they remained in their settlements.
Life as a Jew during the Holocaust can be very harsh and hostile, especially in the early 1940’s, which was in the time of the Holocaust. “Sometimes we can only just wait and see, wait for all the things that are bad to just...fade out.” (Pg.89) It supports my thesis because it explains how much the Jewish community as

It demands very hard labor with very little reward. Any “reward” actually given is in the form of food or watered down coffee.“Never shall i forget that night, the first night in the camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times sealed.” (Pg.34) It supports my thesis in terms as it is also describing how long and harsh the days went by and just how badly the conditions are that one would have to endure while occupying the camp. In the early periods of the Jewish days at camp, they were givin wool coats and outfits to wear, and in effort to keep the same identity, they were all given numbers as their names.
