Life Orientation: Analysis of results The research I conducted has ultimately disproved my hypothesis that female sexuality is not regarded equally to male sexuality as it is seen as taboo except in the case of conceiving a child whereas for males it is seen as a healthy part of growing up. The results show almost exactly equal responses to questions regardless of the gender in the scenario. In the written results it was seen that if a person believed in the existence and use of the word ‘slut’, they then all said that men can be ‘sluts.’ This furthers the idea that sexism in youth regarding the expression of sexual receptivity or interest, is no longer. This can be because of multiple reasons the first being that women experience slut-shaming more frequently that have made them guarded in their freedom of sexuality. This is seen in the written results were females used words such as “condemning, shaming, criticising, de-humanising, targeting and bullying” when asked to explain what the practice of slut shaming is. No one appreciates being treated like this and these influences could have influenced their stance on sexuality. In Source 3 in my literature review it can be seen that women do feel like slut-shaming is “normalized and omnipresent” which is why they feel so restricted. This is furthered by the evidence in the written results that some males did not even know what ‘slut shaming’ is showing how their lives had not been effected by it so they did not pay consideration to it.
