Victims of crime tend to be younger than the general population. Young people aged between 10 and 19 years old are particularly vulnerable to violent crime. Most victims of violent crime are male, however female victims are typically more likely to be victims of serious physical assault and sexual offenses. Those with lower incomes and lower educational attainment are more likely to be victims of crime than those with higher incomes and higher levels of education.
