Lincoln directed by Steven Spielberg is a powerful and educational account of the beginning steps toward the passing of the thirteenth amendment and the end of the Civil War. In 1865 Abraham Lincoln’s greatest accomplishments are achieved by a vision he created to live in a more equal society. He wants to help society by moving forward at a rapid and forgiving pace to restore a broken union. In my opinion, I thought the movie was brilliant by showing an accurate account to the steps taken by Lincoln and his staff to get the thirteenth amendment passed through Congress. Lincoln’s vision eventually out ruled the oppositions received from the people. Lincoln and his staff traveled to many areas and persuaded many people to abolish slavery because it is a constitutional right to be equal. War scenes are my least favorite parts of the movie. I realize fighting for our country is essential, but it is still sad to know people are dying due to disagreements. Robert Lincoln played by Joseph Gorden-Levitt witnesses the disposing of limbs from soldiers which is an effect of war. The moral of Lincoln revolves around the idea that Lincoln was willing to sacrifice anything to stand up for what he believed was morally right. He wanted to create an equal society by abolishing slavery. Lincoln was faced with much opposition throughout his presidency, but kept pushing in the right direction. Lincoln can be characterized as being the turning point in American history. Lincoln became the first president to push for freedom of
