Introduction
Every leader shares the goal of enhancing the qualities of leadership. A leader builds and maintains relationships to produce better overall outcomes. The personal style of the leader sets the tone for the organization, indicating the vast effect they have on others. Therefore, it is important for the leader to reveal weaknesses and to be open about their individual struggles that allowed them to become effective leaders. The leader must be cognizant of the organizational culture and how to address the negativity to transform it to an encouraging environment.

As a leader, being able to manage conflict, is a way to work through the differences of people and help find a common path to agree upon. Conflict can be normal, the way a leader handles conflict to achieve purpose and improved relationships can create effective relationships. “Good leaders recognize that the tensions associated wit normative human conflict simply represent the usual and ordinary differences that exist between people at all levels of the human community” (Porter-O'Grady & Malloch, 2018, p. 214). A leader understands that conflict should not be avoided, rather embraced. “Only between 31 and 55 percent of large US corporations have a specific framework in place for the systematic identification of leadership potential” (Dries & Pepermans, 2012, p. 361). When discussing with human resource managers, it was a combined consensus that being able to identify people with leadership potential is a top priority; the problem is there is not a good guideline or procedure to assess this.
