Deliverance of an Effective Speech Mark Antony and Marcus Brutus both give eloquent funeral speeches in honor of Julius Caesar. However, one of them is more effective than the other. Mark Antony is different than Caesar’s best friend Brutus. Antony had no hand in the killing of Caesar opposing to Brutus. In addition, Antony’s speech was the most effective because of his persuasion in his loaded language, his appeal of emotions he gives to the audience and the evidence he uses throughout his address. Loaded language is one of the strategies that Antony uses in order to have such an unforgettable speech. He utilizes loaded language by saying, “But yesterday the word of Caesar might have stood against the world; now likes he there. And none so poor d=to do him reverence.” Caesar not so long ago was praised and though upon greatly, but now he is dead and nobody seems to have grief towards him. With this explanation, Antony is making the people feel guilty by using deceit and helping them realize that Caesar, the man they once looked up to, is actually dead. …show more content…

Along with Brutus, Antony was a very good friend of Caesars. However, Antony seemed to know the facts while Brutus made accusations and his own theories. Antony shows his evidence by explaining, “I thrice represented him (Caesar) a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse; was this ambition? Yet Brutus says he was ambitious.” Brutus killed his friend and went along with what he believed without knowing any facts about Caesar. Mark Antony’s justifications and testimonies are far more agreeable than Brutus’ because how much information he knows compared to
