In the London Nursing Home, the manager and employee will have ongoing communication about performance management. This will happen thought out the year, the Performance Management process is a cycle which consist of planning, checking-In, and review. The manager and employee will discuss setting objectives, clarifying expectations, discussing goals, getting feedback and reviewing results to establish new objectives for the next performance period. To establish further growth and progress development in an employee, the manager will do a performance appraisal which is normally done in a systematic way. The manager in the London Nursing home will evaluate the targets and plans and then measure the pay of the employee. Also analyse the factors behind work performances of the employee. When scheduling a performance appraisal, it’s always good to notify the employee at least 10-14 days ahead of time. The reason for this, the further in advance they know the less anxious they will be and the more likely the employee will be more relaxed. This will also give them time to prepare by reviewing their performance, job objective and development goals. It is a good idea to have a quick chat face to face beforehand to explain how the process works, how the process will be documented and to state this will be the formal annual performance appraisal.
