Millions of families have immigrated into the United States since its founding. One such family was the Macaluso/Cusimano family. This family of Sicilians lived in Italy for three generations, until immigrating into the United States in 1894. Though they did not lead exciting, politically important, lives, they left their mark through an enormous bloodline whose oldest known source is Vincenzo Cusimano. His descendants, Dane Crosby being a member of the latest generation, went on, and continue to live on, to lead fruitful lives.
My thoughts of “Me Talk Pretty One Day” In “Me Talk Pretty One Day” an essay written by David Sedaris, the author shares his moving to France and returning to school as an adult. The essay is informal and written in everyday language. The writer’s purpose is to inspire anyone, who encounter any obstacles that they may combat in life.

Aside from that it would have an effect on interstate commerce, thing that congress regulates as mentioned in article 1 section 8 number 3. Since Lopez won, the laws for the state had to change causing the state to have its own rules and punishments from the ones for the whole U.S. The Lopez case is an implied power due to article 1 and has many cons. The case of Lopez is considered implied power because his case went against the power of congress. In article 1, congress has the power to define and punish
In the book Hands of My Father by Myron Uhlberg, I learned about a hearing child’s life being raised by two Deaf parents. I gained insight on hearing children with Deaf parents, how Deaf parents depend on their hearing children, frustrations associated with being a hearing child of Deaf parents, personal difficulties Myron encountered while interpreting for his parents, etc. Hearing children with Deaf parents often had the roles reversed, Deaf parents relied on hearing children to translate and explain things to them. If my parents were Deaf I’m sure I would do my best to help them when they need it just as Myron did. I am familiar with having to do more for my family than the average child
The family of Luis Rodriguez, like many Mexican Americans in the border regions from the 1950’s to the 1960’s, faced much disparity in the social and economic realm of their new homes and communities. Living in the United States, they believed, would allow for growth and opportunities not possible in Mexico. In their quests to lead a better life, the heads of many households had to work hard and long hours in order for the sustainment of their livelihood and in Luis Rodriguez’s case, both of his parents worked long and hard hours. Rodriguez’s parents wanted better for their family, but their journey to Los Angeles would forever change the trajectory of the life they envisioned for their family and, namely, for Luis Rodriguez. Born in El Paso, Texas, the Rodriguez family moved back and forth between the border and the region of Chihuahua, Mexico.

When reading the essay by Richard Rodriguez entitled “Public and Private Language,” I couldn’t help but feel the exact same why he did. For about four years I did not tell any of my family members I had learned Spanish; I didn’t want to be the translator. That is what Rodriguez is to his family because he knew English. Being a child if divorce I have two families, my mothers and my fathers, they both grew up in different places, my mother grew up in Texas, United States, and my father grew up in Montreal, Canada. With this said there was a lot of things different about them, the one that stands out to me is the language expertise.

In my opinion, I think that gentrification has a more positive effect on urban communities. Gentrification seems to uproot poor communities, which are traditionally non-white, to make certain areas more suitable for wealthy people (theperspective.com). It seems that gentrification can boost the local economy in low-income areas. The money given to the community will positively increase business and community investments and this will create jobs for those unemployed. Gentrification will increase tax revenue, the population, and property values.
By helping children gain the ability to use language they can help children gain confidence and self-esteem I have seen this in my setting with children who have had communication and language needs. These children have gained confidence and their language is now at a level that they can interact with other children and not show frustration. This is because they can now express themselves. Sign language is a course that many schools do not offer as an elective or a foreign language credit. The assistant principal of Seton High School, Susan Hollenbach, explained that many smaller and private schools are not able to offer Sign Language as a course because they are unable to find the staffing and resources for the class. School size and student interest is a big factor in deciding what courses will be created because all the electives and languages are student-driven. This means that if more students show interest in taking ASL courses, it is more possible for it to become a class. Also, the administration has to decide whether or not the certain course will take away from other classes and possibly diminish the class size of another class which
