One example of wickedness in Lord of the Flies is when Jack was ordering people on the island to be tortured and organizing the murder of Ralph. Jack had Roger make “a stick sharpened at both ends” to behead Ralph as they would if they were hunting a pig (Golding 190). The act of torturing people is extremely evil. It is malicious and wicked, and Jack and Roger are trying to kill Ralph out of their evil, wicked nature. Ralph hadn’t done anything wrong with them, the boys decided to hunt them out of evil will. Rwanda was divided up into two ethnic groups: Hutus and Tutsis. The Hutus wanted to kill the Tutsis because they wanted the political power that the Tutsis held in Rwanda. The Tutsis held political power in Rwanda because the Belgians favored them, and Belgium colonized Rwanda at the time. In an article by Britannica, it estimates that “more than 800,000 civilians, primarily tutsi, but also moderate Hutu, were killed...” (Rwanda Genocide of).
