Is there a greater number of evil humans than good? Willaim Golding's novel Lord of the Flies, released in 1954, has several illustrations of how humans may be evil. History has often demonstrated how bad humans are. Slavery and the Pearl Harbor attack are excellent examples of terrible people. The slave trade was a mass slaughter conducted by Portugal due to a labor shortage. Portugal didn't care whether the slaves were taken away from their families or were too young; all they cared about was gold and other goods. The Japanese military launched the Pearl Harbor attack because they did not want the United States Pacific Fleet interfering with their planned military operations in Southeast Asia against foreign countries of the United Kingdom, …show more content…
This shows the poor behavior of humans because they would trade slaves for gold and any other things that were valuable. It started in the middle of the fifteenth century when Portuguese ships sailed down the west African coast. The intention was to trade for gold and different spices, but the voyagers found something else that was even more valuable and they all talked and thought that human beings were more valuable. In the article Britannica It states that the slaves were transported between 10 million and 12 million across the Atlantic ocean by ship. Since they were transported by ship they got really sick so most of the slaves died of either fever, chilera, whooping cough, and pneumonia making that really bad for the enslaved people. There were also deaths from suffocation since they had to sleep side by side. Not only did they die from that but diseases started to routine on the slave deck. All this evidence shows that many of the slaves died during the slave trade and the people that were trading them did not care if they got sick or even died all they cared about was getting gold or any valuable things because at that time all they wanted coffee tobacco, sugar, gold silver mines and other valuable things that they can get there hands on so they did not care at all if they were to little or if they even got separated from there family at a young age all they wanted was to be happy with the things that …show more content…
This demonstrates that humans may be cruel when necessary since they did not realize that their actions would have an impact on the United States. This began on December 7th, when Japan attacked the US naval station in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. For instance in the article named Pearl Harbor World War 2 it says that 350 Japanese planes sank or severely damaged eighteen US naval warships, including eight battleships, destroyed or damaged 300 US planes, and killed 2,403 people. The Pearl Harbor assault significantly weakened the United States' naval and aviation forces in the Pacific. However, all except the Arizona and Oklahoma battleships were eventually rebuilt and restored to duty, and the Japanese were unable to destroy the island's vital oil storage facilities. All of this indicates that they tried everything to get back at the United States for what they did to them and they probably didn't realize that they were hurting a lot of people even killing them and destroying many things as possible but the only thing they did not destroy was there industrial facility for the storage of oil which is good because it could have caused something bad if it did. This also proves that there are bad humans throughout history because they killed thousands of people but the knew that they would kill thousands of people.Another example that shows that humans were bad was in the article called Pearl
