Jack’s Nazism Rule Jack, the main antagonist of the story, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding has a great amount of words to describe him. One such word is fascist. Fascist is a word describing a person who likes to have complete control of power, usually through force or monarchy. In the duration of the story, Lord Of the Flies, there are many times he shows his true fascist behaviors, such as the autocratic ways he took charge of the tribe, thus showing his true nature. Jack disbands from the group because his ideals and tribal structure patterns are rejected. While this shows cruelty and the power that Jack stole from Ralph, it also shows the basic ideals of fascism considering how Jack wants absolute control. Although this is no grand scheme or entice, this still relates to fascism since, in this quote, Jack, stabbing Samneric, becomes greatly influenced by power. He wants everyone to serve him, not to mention that he will torture, threaten, and perhaps kill to get that power. Robert talks about Jack’s power after they killed Simon,“‘He’s going to beat Wilfred.’ ‘What for?’ Robert shook his head doubtfully. ‘I don’t know. He didn’t say. He got angry and made us tie Wilfred up. He’s been’—he giggled excitedly—’he’s been tied for hours, waiting—”(Golding, 159).
