Introduction In the Harry Potter series, its 7 books portray a dystopian society where the wrath, tempestuous desires, and repugnant actions of a mysterious and ominous yet very tangibly present antagonist drive the story’s plot and whose involvement elicits major events. Lord Voldemort, or “He who must not be named” is one of the most impactful and memorable antagonists of our generation, both in literature and on film. Adolf Hitler’s actions led to death, depression and horror. The creation of Lord Voldemort led to millions of children picking up their first book. Methodology used to collect data Primary and secondary forms of research were conducted to determine the extent to which Voldemort and his Army of Death Eaters allude to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Empire. The main forms of primary data used were historical texts about the Second World War, manuscripts about Nazism, and an interview with the Harry Potter author herself, Joanne Kathleen Rowling. Specifically, I asked Rowling about her general inspirations when creating the magical concoction that is Harry Potter, and what went through her mind when she constructed his nemesis Voldemort. The Death Eaters also believed in purity in the wizarding world. They desired a world free of muggles and half blood wizards and witches and wanted only the pure to exist. Throughout the stories, the Death Eaters distaste for all those that are Half-Bloods, Mudbloods (derogatory term for muggle-borns), Squibs and Muggles are expressed by their vicious usage of offensive vernacular, and their actions themselves. Half-Bloods are wizards or witches which have one Magical parent and one muggle (or ordinary human) parent. Muggle-borns are those who have two normal parents, but are born with magical powers. Squibs are the opposite of muggle-borns where parents are magical but the child unfortunately is born with no magical prowess. Muggles, lastly, are normal humans who normally do not know about the wizarding world. Lord Voldemort’s goal was to eradicate all those that weren’t pure-bloods. Pure-Bloods are wizards and witches with only magical heritage. They claim to have no muggles in their bloodline or ancestry, and their number is in decline due to the low number of absolute pure-bloods in existence. Due to their scarcity, many pure-bloods develop a prejudice concerning all others.
