Luis Alfredo Garavito, also known as La Bestia “ The Beast” was born January 25, 1957 is a Columbian rapist and serial killer. He admitted to rape, torture and murder of 138 children and teenagers. His victims, based on the locations of bones listed on maps that Garavito had made in prison, would eventually exceed 300. Garavito continues to confess to more murders. He has been described by the public as “the world’s worst serial killer.” Luis Alfredo Garavito is the second serial killer of the world according the Attorney general’s office.

Being the eldest in the family means that you have a lot of responsibility. Parents will often look to the eldest child for support with looking after the younger children. Being the oldest in such a large family is particularly stressful and can lead to a child to take on adult responsibilities. It also means on losing out of their childhood. This is what Garavito may have gone through to cause him to act out for those events and hurting all those people.
Garavitos victims’ were identified by their age, gender and social status. He targeted little boys between the ages six to sixteen who were either homeless, peasants, or orphaned. He would approach the young boys, either on the crowded streets or alone in the countryside and then he would lure them with giving small things such as money, candy or odd jobs.
