Have you ever had to be someone else for the rest of your life? Luke Garner was an illegal third child who was almost discovered by the population police for being an illegal third child. He was sent away to another part of the country to attend a Hendricks School for Boys for the first time as Lee Grant just to stay alive for as long as he can. Among the Imposters is the second book in the shadow children series by Margaret Paterson Haddix is a science fiction novel about Lee (Luke) who has to live his life in hiding just to stay alive. This is a book that keeps you wanting the read more as you go on. You can never get enough once you get a taste for this story. Luke starts his new life in a new school. His first few months he is expected to blend in with the crowd, but he doesn’t even know what grade he is in. He can’t stand the school he had wished he were back at home with his mom, dad and brothers. Luke sneaks out of school into the woods where he decides to grow a garden do to the fact that berries were all around. He even steals scraps from the schools lunches for more things to grow. One day Luke is astonished at what he sees. Someone had destroyed his garden. Late at night he sneaks out to find who has destroyed his garden. He finds a group of boys, and girls who all are third children too who had no clue that they had destroyed what they did. Luke never admitted his real name to the kids which turned out to be to his benefit. A few nights later Jackal boy (One of the third children) snuck out of the room of the school suspiciously.
