Werewolves are one of the most stereotyped and written about creatures in pop culture. Known as a folklore or an urban legend in the dark ages, but today they are mythical creatures and well known amongst all people. They have haunting features, but there are creatures that are relatively similar and can easily get mixed up. Over time we have come to a precise description of what we consider to be Lycanthrope, or Werewolf.
Werewolves are one of the oldest legends recorded of human monsters in history. Werewolves are creatures that are believed to have been made by a Lunar God of some sort. They begin as humans and have the power to transform themselves into wolves. They can also be identified as “Lycanthropes”(HistoricMystery). There are many different ways one can become a Werewolf. Some ways include being born into it, being cursed with it, or being bitten by a Werewolf. Werewolves are known to be “humanoid carnivores,” which roughly translates to part human and part wolf. When a Werewolf transforms into its wolf form, it is described as having colorful wolf like eyes, long sharp claws, and terrifying fangs.

Modern day writers tend to talk about werewolves and their appearances, which usually occur on the nights of full moons. Which plays directly with their major appearances in horror and mythological stories. Werewolves even emerge in modern day shows and movies, such as Wizards of Waverly Place, the Twilight Saga series and Teen Wolf. Pertaining to the scenes of Werewolves, they are usually shown at night when there is a full moon present or when other creatures are nearby and they lose their self-control.
