HENNEKAM LYMPHANGIECTASIA SYNDROME ABSTRACT Hennekam Lymphangiectasia Syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive condition. Onset is usually in childhood. The prevalence is unknown but less than 50 cases have been reported in the literature. Incidence is about 1 in 1,00,000 and occurs in all ethnic groups. Her health being swiftly dropped despite assertive effort of treatment until her family decided to put her in palliative care. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL is one most common blood cancer in children less than 15-year-old of age. Jenny’s diagnosis is acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Ordinarily, blood cells are emerging from an immature cell or stem cell which can give rise to several different cell types. First phase of hematopoiesis or formation of blood
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks its self. Lupus can affect different parts of the body including the skin, blood, kidneys, and joints. There are four different types of Lupus, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Cutaneous Lupus, Drug-Induced Lupus, and Neonatal Lupus. However, the most common and deadly lupus is Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
T cells are produced to attack the antigens of tumors and B cells are produced to make antibodies that are specific to the antigens of a tumor. An older individual’s immune system could react at a slower
Touring the Tulsa Cancer Institute treatment floor I saw a variety of cancers, they include; lung, bladder, and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The type of cancer I primarily focused on was Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was not present when the nurse first assessed the patient, but whenever he had a new medication to hang the nurse would always make sure that the medication matched the name on his ID bracelet and his MAR. My patient has Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and his primary treatment is chemotherapy. Before determining what type of chemotherapy my patient would receive he had to go through a variety of testing.
Lupus Erythematous Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE) is a chronicautoimmune disease occurring in the muscle and skeletal systems. If a person were to have Lupus Erythematous, his/her immune sys-tem would begin to attack itself, rather than outside invaders. As a result, tissues, organs, and nerves are harshly affected. According to the Lupus Foundation of America (2017), SLE affects more than 1.5 million Americans, mainly ranging from ages 15-44, but most commonly in young African-American women. Cause The cause of Systemic Lupus Erythematous is unknown, however there are several fac-tors that may have an effect on the symptoms and disease.
For every one hundred thousand men, approximately thirty-six thousand and nine hundred will be diagnosed with some form of cancer and two hundred and eight of those cases will be completely fatal (National Cancer Institute). The statistics of cancer to many are terrifying, especially those affected in some way. Reactions vary from person to person when presented with such a murderer 's disease, whether they themselves are suffering or someone they care about is suffering. Many ideas are shared about cancer and much research is done but in simplicity, cancer is “any evil condition or thing that spreads destructively” (Dictionary.com). Although it is not only the sufferers of the disease suffering horribly but the loved ones in their lives too,
An 11-year-old boy named Jimmy T suffers from lymphoma. Without the treatment of chemotherapy he is said to pass away within 6 weeks. Besides having lymphoma, he also suffers from an incurable neurological disease. Just alone with the disease he is said to only live up to 18-years-old. This disease will greatly affect him.
The integument (skin) is the body's largest and heaviest organ. It consists of two layers the epidermis which is a stratified squamous epithelium and the dermis which is a deeper connective tissue layer. Our skin defenses against infections, injuries, heat, and sunlight. Excessive amounts of ultra violet lights affect skin in negative ways, possibly leading to Melanoma skin cancer. Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer that arises from the melanocytes.
In Bradley’s case, she was able to live for a year longer other than her diagnosed three months. In Michael Specter’s article, “The Gene Hackers”, he mentions that by making new treatments and experiments people are able to comprehend more about the cells and how they function. Even though “every cancer is a specific personal disease” (Specter 57), it is important to research and test new hypotheses or else it will stay unknown as to what can either help or ruin a person 's recovery. Eric Lander believes that “there will be an enormous chat... it will contain the therapeutic road map of every trick that cancer cells have - how they form and all the ways you can defeat them, and all the ways they can escape and defeat a treatment” (Specter 57).
In my mind i keep replaying the tape of the voice of my doctor, “ Hodgkin Lymphoma is divided into four stages, depending on how far the disease has spread. The “stage” is an important piece of information that helps to predict outcomes, or prognosis, and determine a patient’s course of treatment. As for Charity, she has stage four (widespread disease), the lymphoma is outside the lymph nodes and spleen and has spread to one or more organs such as bone marrow, lung or liver.” As a short summary, basically explained that the only thing we can do is take Charity to chemo, possibly surgery and to just “ hope for the

Throughout history, many international migrants have journeyed to the United States to establish a new life with their family to ultimately achieve the American Dream. Along with them, they brought their cultural practices and religious beliefs which uniquely made them different. However, no one would expect the United States’ population to increase by millions during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries due to immigrants. As supported on page 361, “In the last half of the 19th century, the U.S. population more than tripled, from about 23.2 million in 1850 to 76.2 million in 1900.” (“United States History”).
Chemotherapy is a drug treatment that uses chemicals to kill cancer cells. The drugs are most often given through a vein, after that the chemotherapy chemicals travel throughout your body. It can also help people with bone cancer that has spread beyond the bone to other areas in the body. Radiation therapy is also an option. Radiation therapy uses high-powered beams of energy to kill cancer cells.
Cancer is an abnormal production of cells that divide uncontrollably within the body (Black & Hogan 2006). What is more vaguely understood are the mechanisms the underlie this, the different effects on each patient, and how to stop it. Some common types of cancer are breast cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer, leukemia, and brain cancer. Each of these various diagnoses cause different biological and psychological stresses on the patient. Because old cells do not die and instead grow out of control, often, a mass will form, otherwise known as a tumor.
