Macbeth Character Analysis Thesis: Macbeth commits evil deeds in the play because he is a greedy backstabber and feels no empathy for his fellow man. Macbeth’s greed is made very obvious in the story based upon the quote “On which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, / For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires;,” (1.4.51-52).
Lady MacBeth is the true antagonist, in the first scene we see her in she's manipulating her husband to kill the king so she may become the queen. In MacBeth’s castle, Macbeth explains to his wife how three witches told him that he would soon become king. Lady Macbeth sees this as an opportunity to become queen so she convinces her own husband to murder the king. When the king is invited to MacBeth’s Castle, Lady MacBeth pulls her husband aside, MacBeth doesn't’ want to kill King Duncan so his wife taunts him, “Art thou afeard to be the same in thine own act as thou art in desire?”. In other words, she’s trying to call him out.

Macbeth, a tragedy written by William Shakespeare illustrates the life of Macbeth, a loyal general turned villain, who murders for his own personal gain. I believe that Macbeth is a villain because he causes misery for power and feels no remorse for the actions he takes to achieve his goal. Macbeth allowed himself to be persuaded by Lady Macbeth to commit murder. On page 366 she makes remarks against his masculinity by saying, “When you durst do it, then you were a man; and to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man.” Lady Macbeth persuading and taunting him caused him to go through with the first murder.

Lady Macbeth's presentation of evil is overwhelmingly presented through her ambition and manipulative tendencies throughout the play, as Shakespeare uses her character as a catalyst for her and her husband's descent into the devil and darkness.
Lady Macbeth, while a beautiful noblewoman, is a main conspirator for regicide in the play, and encourages her husband to commit wicked deeds with her harsh words. Macbeth himself speaks of loyalty to the king above all

However despite these comparisons, Macbeth himself is not entirely evil. He is constantly aware of his own descent into darkness, his diminishing shreds of conscience trying desperately to convert him from his ways only for his wife to convince and prod him on in his ambitious and bloody quest for the throne.

Lady Macbeth is truly an evil character. In the beginning of the play, it tells how much Macbeth is a fierce warrior, but coming home the witches came. As soon as Lady Macbeth heard about the prophecy, she becomes the fierce warrior and Macbeth bends to her every whim. Lady Macbeth is always making Macbeth feel awful, (Act 3, scene V, line 58) “Are you a man?”.
Throughout Shakespeare play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth was regarded as ruthless, cruel and manipulative, although it was suggested there was more to her character. Lady Macbeth is not as evil as she was portrayed to be. Lady Macbeth had a strong relationship with her husband, they trusted each other and were loyal to one another. Through her words and actions she showed humanity that others didn’t expect from her. A wicked person wouldn’t feel the slightest guilt for something wrong they have done, yet Lady Macbeth felt culpability that lead her to her downfall.
Macbeth started off as a valiant and courageous soldier, who would do anything for the king. By the end of the play, Macbeth was a tyrant and a horrible leader who killed those who trusted him to maintain the throne. It takes many factors to take a strong man and transform him into an evil monster. Macbeth’s downfall was caused by the deception and temptation of the witches and their prophecies, Lady Macbeth’s greed and aspirations for her husband to be king, and Macbeth’s own greed, jealousy and ambition.
William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the main character; Macbeth, is seen as an evil character. The play is based off of Macbeth’s decisions and his actions to become King. In the beginning Macbeth starts out as a hero in Scotland’s war with Ireland and towards the end he is transformed into a murderer. Macbeth is not wholly evil because of is heroism in the war, his love for Scotland, and because he didn’t want to kill King Duncan initially. Macbeth was brain washed by his wife and tricked into killing the King.

In the beginning of the play he is presented as a loyal soldier to King Duncan and he is widely respected and admired by people. It can seem questionable as to why Macbeth is an antagonist when he has the trope of a hero. Despite that image, his inner thoughts begin to reveal themselves, showing another side to Macbeth that people don’t know about. Macbeth soon admits to his dark lust for power and status beyond his capability.

In Shakespeare 's “ The Tragedy of Macbeth”, the character Macbeth is displayed as the villain throughout the play. Macbeth shows the readers that his amiton gets in the way and makes him do things that are considered “evil” until the end of the play. Macbeth is thinking to himself that it is not fair that Duncan 's kids will become king so he kills Duncan and has his sons flee.
