The book The Prince by Machiavelli is a depiction of the renaissance because Machiavelli describes the different kinds of states, a prince can rest on the favor of the people if he has shown certain qualities of leadership and courage towards the people and the prince needs to treat nobles differently according to how they are inclined towards him. Machiavelli uses these rules to show how a prince should conduct his actions in the renaissance time period. A prince needs to know these rules to correctly oversight his kingdom/state precisely and efficiently. According to The Prince, the states are either ruled by a prince or a republic these states are known as, principalities. They can be divided into hereditary principalities and new principalities. By fortune or strength, a prince can acquire a new principality with his army. According to The Prince, a hereditary state is easier to govern than a new state. For example the people of hereditary states live under the rule of the royal family that the state has been with the family for generations. Also, the Prince’s subjects in a hereditary state most show love to the royal family, if the Prince commits some horrible act against his people they do not have to show love. If a prince shows quality of leadership and courage he will win the heart of his people. By winning the heart of his people a prince can maintain order with less anarchy against his ruling. Allowing less civil wars to be had between his people because a prince’s strong characteristic of leadership. The people will be more open and going along with the prince’s ideas. Therefore, fewer wars will break out between his people if they are all united under the prince’s rules.
