Why is December 7th a very important day? I’ll tell you why. December 7th was the day that Pearl Harbor was bombed and America jumped into war. Franklin D. Roosevelt gave a famous speech about how December 7th will be remembered. To this day it is not a holiday like Martin Luther King Day, but a lot of people still know about this special day. There were three main groups in this much larger group. The main groups were, The U.S, The Soviet Union, and Great Britain, but now the UK took it’s place. One of their worst enemies are, The Axis Powers. During WW2 they had the most battles over their territory. At one point the Allies worked with Germany to take over Poland. One of the reasons why this alliance was formed was so they could help each other when the Axis powers attacked.The Allies also had an enemy almost as strong as them, The Axis Powers. The Axis Powers were a very deadly group of countries and were a very strong alliance. This alliance included 3 main countries, Germany, Japan and Italy. When the first treaty was made it was called the “Pact Of Steel” that made Germany and Italy an alliance on May 22 1939. On September 27, 1940, Japan joined the alliance and the treaty was then called, “Tripartite Pact”. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor it gave The Axis Powers a HUGE advantage over The Allies because The Axis Powers damaged eight Navy aircraft carriers in total and destroyed four.
