4.0 ISSUE OF DISCUSSION: BASE ON THE VIETNAM GUERRILLA WARFARE
Vietnam War was a proxy war between both the United States of America and the Soviet Union. As a reason of difference in ideological philosophy, the Cold War between both the winners of the Second World War brought so much misery in the region. Especially in Vietnam. It all spark complication in Vietnam when communism was seen as a threat to the South East Asia country by the United States themselves (Truman, 2015).

There are several elements that had help the Vietcong to fight the American using the guerrilla tactics. According to Kiras (2013), irregular warfare require the support of four elements, which are time, space, support and legitimacy. However, Major Johnie Gombo in Understanding Guerrilla Warfare (1990), he descrided that the elements of organization, support, equipment and tactics are those few elements that are required in irregular warfare. The first phase is strategic defensive. Which is an important element in time frame as to be defensive stage. In which all forms of battles are supposed to be avoided at all cost. However only, little tactical offensive is done in domestic where the soon to be guerrillas possessed superiority above these locals. Hence, after that, guerrillas will established the support a relationship with the local population and train new recruitments as an initial phase of going into offensive tactics against the enemies (Kiras, 2013).
