The 38th Street Gang, Henry Reyna The Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez is a magnificent book. The characters are excellent and the play is just great. Shows hard times during World War 2 of gangs at war and people suffering from hope. Henry Reyna being one of the most important characters in this book shows a lot of his feelings and the problems he’s going through, affecting various people in some situations, he’s very close with his friends, but falls apart with his family as he’s always getting in trouble, such a depressing time for him and is treated very unfairly.
How a character acts and what their personality is can describe their character trait. Sometimes characters are different in their traits, oftenly characters can be the same by changing or revising their own character trait. The protagonist is Doug from Okay for Now, by Gary Schmidt. Doug is a teenage boy that is struggling with a rough family. Doug 's father got a new job that was far away from his own town so, Doug has to adapt to the town that he moved to.
Character trait: One trait that the protagonist displays is ‘frustration’, an example from the short story would be: “It was not deep, he wetted himself halfway to the knees” The chechaquo was planning on arriving at the camp on time for the boys at 6:00, he had it all planned out, but when he stepped into the frozen river and wetted his feet, that would mean he would have to build a new fire and wait until his feet were dry and safe to walk with, that would take a lot of time and make him late to the camp. He ‘cursed’ out loud to himself after that, which clearly says that he is indeed frustrated.
Luis J. Rodriguez went from being a gang member to governor, he is a 60 year old chicano and also a best selling author. He was a member of a gang and faced felony charges also struggled with drug addiction. Also Luis has some good things he has done such as work in various countries as a journalist, painted murals, organized against war and racism and ran a cultural center and bookstore in Los Angeles. From going through that his whole life since he was 11 years old he started to realize that a lot of stuff started happening to his friends more than him like getting shot or someone getting killed by a type of drug but it was not really affecting him the world would always save him but he never realized what it was.
Recently I analyzed the memoir entitled, “The Money” written by Junot Diaz. The author describes in his memoir his family’s relationship to money around 1980 which was a time when immigration began to flourish. In his memoir Diaz’s purpose towards the reader is to show struggles and experiences that many immigrants faced and can still be facing today. While analyzing “The Money” I was also able to point out frustration and disappointment Diaz felt towards his mother as well as Mr. Diaz’s emotions as a young boy struggling with what seemed so important at the time, and his reflection on his memories which he shares with his readers.

“You give me a uniform, you give me a number on my back, I'll give you the guts.” Throughout the 2013 film “42”, Jackie Robinson indeed proves that he has the guts to counter racism in people from all walks of life. Character is the aspect of a person that decides what kind of person he is; it is who he is at his very core, and it affects his tolerance, courage, and sense of justice. Jackie’s dealing with the racism conveys true character, and it teaches the viewer how to behave when put to the test. Specifically, “42” exemplifies true character education in that it depicts Jackie Robinson persisting despite the racial prejudice of spectators, the media, and fellow athletes.
Martinez supports theses characteristics by putting samples of interior monologue displaying these things and allowed the reader to get in on it as well. In my opinion, Manny can be an actual person. In the story, he goes through a lot of situations that kids his age are actually facing in the real life world. I know of a few people that were in predicaments similar to Manny’s, his life is pretty much reality. I feel like Manny could be someone that i would meet at school some random day, Martinez put the events together in a well way and gave Manny a hint of the real world.
The Boy Who Saved Baseball by John H. Ritter has many unique characters that are all connected with the game of baseball. Tom Gallagher is a just a regular boy who likes to play baseball. He is the one telling the story to us about his baseball team. He makes unlikely friends with different types of people and goes on a lot of adventures.
It is through her point of view where we notice how easily drugs are available to her and how susceptible teenagers are to addiction. Finally, a unique and different perspective is shown through Javier Rodriquez played by Benicio Del Toro. Depicted as a “good cop” in Mexico, Javier is actively fighting against criminals, drug traffickers/smugglers and the reality of corruption in the Mexican military. Between the 3 we view the film at the political level of the drug war, the social level, and law enforcement level, respectively. Soderbergh uses different colors to distinguish between the several storylines.
