Character trait: One trait that the protagonist displays is ‘frustration’, an example from the short story would be: “It was not deep, he wetted himself halfway to the knees” The chechaquo was planning on arriving at the camp on time for the boys at 6:00, he had it all planned out, but when he stepped into the frozen river and wetted his feet, that would mean he would have to build a new fire and wait until his feet were dry and safe to walk with, that would take a lot of time and make him late to the camp. He ‘cursed’ out loud to himself after that, which clearly says that he is indeed frustrated. So not only will his feet freeze but his hands will remain frozen and numb so he can’t find any solution of warmth due to this inability, so he will not make it to the boys and the camp in time (or not at all). The theme of the story is “listen to people who have experience”, the man did not listen to the Old Timer has he said not to travel alone. Chechaquo did not listen, so it was certain that due to his inexperience with cold weather and no partner with him on his travel he would face a lot of problems and situations which would lead to frustration. If he would bring someone with him he would not have gone through half of the difficulties he did go through alone, for example, if someone (with experience) was with him when he stepped into the water, they wouldn't have built a fire under a tree and would've have made it to the
