Eleanor Roosevelt had once stated “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the think which you think you cannot do.” An interpretation of this is that the only way growth and courage can increase is when the time is taken to perform at the best state possible. This can occurs when there is a challenge which may or may not be extremely difficult, but you must push forward and come out ahead. The Little Rock nine had to endure going to school facing true hatred and constant denigrate each and everyday.

This trouble is rooted in a legacy we all inherited, and while we’re here, it belongs to us (Johnson p.12). People rarely talk about power and privilege because talking openly about it isn’t easy. This keeps us from looking at what’s going on and what makes it impossible to do anything about it. People are naturally afraid of what they do not know.
We don't speak up against the group if we disagree with its ideology or purpose because we are afraid of being rejected. We disclose our innermost thoughts only when we connect to others who share our beliefs or are motivated by the same goals. Concepts including rebellion, and strength in numbers are explored in Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451 (1953) and James
Elie Wiesel says “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” This quote helps people believe that they are protected and they can help protect themselves and their people. It also shows that letting things go and pushing them off to the side when conflict arises causes more problems.

Another good inspiration is Elie Wiesel. Wiesel spoke out to millions of people and made a mark in the world. If leaders like these people stayed silent, the problems and issues may still occur today. As these people have shown, no matter how high the stakes are, you should always stand up for what you believe in and not let anyone get in your way.
What does identity, agency, and internalized oppression mean for the Invisible Man? How does it feel to live through the veil of double consciousness while being physically trapped by the limitations of the Jim Crow South? Why does the narrator sacrifice his authenticity and deny his own truth for the sake of others? In this poignant novel, the Invisible Man (1952) explores a gripping coming of age tale centered on the themes of manhood, authoritative power, and self-pride. While Homer’s Odyssey does not mention much of the background of the twelve murdered maids, The Penelopiad by Margeret Atwood reveals all the dark realities for women through the choruses of the maids. As Atwood provides their perspectives, the maids tell their stories of their dehumanization through the choruses throughout the Penelopiad. From being ignored to being dehumanized, the twelve girls tell their stories of their life living as a slave. The maids in The Penelopiad symbolize the oppression of lower class women in society as shown by having one face and collectively narrating the choruses as one voice.
Social Issues Synthesis Essay “Power can be taken, but not given”. The process of the taking is empowerment in itself,” argues Gloria Steinem, a famous women’s rights leader. Building on that idea, we can find examples in books, movies, and songs, all the different ways that empowerment can happen, or not happen, depending on the circumstances. Using examples from Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, The Outsiders by SE Hinton and “Love Yourz” by J Cole, we will see that individuals are born into circumstances where empowerment is readily available to them, while some must work to achieve it, while still others struggle to avoid having empowerment taken from them by others. This essay will show that “taking” power for yourself is the greatest form of

Similar to the quote, Tom’s constant need for wealth and power leads to a need and want for everything in sight.
